Entrepreneurs take on a lot of responsibility when they start small businesses. Small business owners have to be more than just great leaders with a sellable idea in order for their businesses to thrive. It’s not uncommon for them to effectively step into manager, HR, receptionist and more roles along the way. As you probably know firsthand, that’s a lot of plates to spin at once. If you’re struggling to manage time with all these looming responsibilities, check out our tips for learning to prioritize!

Plan Your Weeks Ahead of Time

Planning your week ahead of time is a great way to stay on top of all of your responsibilities for the days ahead. This way, you have a general idea of all upcoming tasks, deliverables and meetings and can prioritize them accordingly. When you plan your weeks ahead of time, you don’t have to view it like your setting plans in stone. Rather, view it as your “Plan A” that you can edit along the way as you progress through the week.

Plan Your Day Ahead of Time

Separate planning for your daily and weekly tasks is a nice habit to start. Your weekly schedule doesn’t need to account for standard “business as usual” tasks that you complete on a daily basis. However, as your schedule for the next day begins to take shape, it makes sense to account for unique tasks and routine ones. This way, you have a concrete outline of everything that needs to be taken care of. If the unexpected happens and you’re unable to complete some of your daily tasks, you’ll at least have a planner to look back on as you readjust your plans moving forward.

Delegate Responsibility

Some business owners don’t fully take advantage of the fact that they can delegate responsibilities within their business. Check out our blog outlining some of the misunderstandings associated with delegating.  The bottom line to remember is that delegating tasks to your trusted employees can reduce your stress and empower your team to help carry out your collective mission.
